SONGWRITER COMPETITION INFORMATION

- Location ON TV: Mid Pen Media Center, 900 San Antonio Rd. Palo Alto
- You MUST Reserve your place and pay in advance here. (You will receive confirmation by email)
- Limited to 10 spots only one song per person)...songs must be radio edits.
- Pre-Registered check-in from 6:45-7:00 pm
- Cost: $20 (members only) - Cost is for use of TV studio.
- Audience FREE - and strongly encouraged. Donations to WCS are greatly accepted
- Make 2 copies of your song lyric sheet for the judges to review. Please include your name, contact info is optional.

The Palo Alto chapter does charge WCS members to perform. But there is a good reason! We need to cover the costs for the use of the studio. This competition is unique. The program is recorded by the Media Center volunteer studio crew and is shown through local access TV. An electronic file of the evening is available to all paid performers. The participation charge is $20 for members. Audience is free. You can renew online, or join at the event.
Winner of Best Song: 1 hour of song doctoring with David Scheibner, former composer for Entertainment Tonight, his current catalog is represented by Atrium Music.

BEST SONG WINNERS - PLAYOFFS - ALL monthly winners return to compete for the honor of representing Palo Alto at the WCS GRAND FINALS in September. Three winners are chosen to perform at the annual WCS Conference in September in front of a house full of industry leaders.
PALO ALTO MANAGERS:
PETE SOMMER: Producer
Pete's been performing music since his youth. Played guitar and banjo in rock/folk/country/blues/pop bands and performed in concerts and clubs in Southern California. Recorded with his own groups and on sessions at LA Studios. Taught Guitar.
Took a 3 decade hiatus to raise a family. Now performs at local Clubs and Open Mics as a host, solo and duet. Also, provides Artist Development, collaborating with other songwriters and recording. Board Vice President for WCS.
Linda was born and raised in San Francisco and is a classically trained pianist. She is the Associate Producer of the Palo Alto Song Competitions and has been on the staff of the annual WCS Music Conference for almost 20 years. Linda manages Purple Fox and the Heebie Jeebies, a FUN, FUNky award-winning band for kids and grown up movers and shakers mypurplefox.com. Linda also serves on the Advisory Board of the Bammies Music Foundation, will be featured in the upcoming film, “Woodstock Nation” and is also the Editorial Assistant for the upcoming documentary "Rock Radio Revolution KSAN JIVE 95: THE MOVIE.” Previously, Linda served on the Board of the San Francisco Chapter of the Recording Academy and its Special Events and Membership Committees. You can always find Linda working at a music conference somewhere.
