Kerry Wayne James is a musician, entrepreneur, and artist development strategist based in
Oakland, California. Early in his career, while in Oakland, he managed Angelo Moore of
Fishbone while honing his skills as a bassist and songwriter in local bands. After moving to Los
Angeles, he co-founded the alternative–indie rock band OSLO, whose sound earned critical
acclaim, a publishing deal with Songs Music Publishing, and praise from Rolling Stone,
Billboard, and LA Weekly. Their music has been featured in film and television, extending the
band’s reach beyond the stage.
Alongside OSLO, Kerry toured and recorded with Scapegoat Wax and later Black Gold,
broadening his range as a performer and collaborator. He also transitioned into management
and development, consulting artists and securing sync placements, including work with
folk-alternative band The Brevet, whom he guided through national tours, radio campaigns, and
brand growth. Today, Kerry is signed to Warner Chappell Music and leads Formation
Creative, his boutique label and production company with global distribution through
Symphonic. In 2025, OSLO returned with the singles “Everybody Knows” and “Accidental
Tourist” ahead of their new EP, The Great Divide.
