David Ivory

David Ivory is a GRAMMY® Award-nominated, multi-Platinum recording engineer, producer, studio owner, and music business entrepreneur. His credits include The Roots (Do You Want More?!??!, Illadelph Halflife, Things Fall Apart), Erykah Badu’s Baduizm, and Kindred the Family Soul’s Rhythm of Life, among many others.

In R&B and soul, he has worked with legends such as Patti LaBelle (Gems), Bunny Sigler, and John Ellison (writer of the classic “Some Kind of Wonderful”). In rock, Ivory produced Philadelphia’s own Silvertide (J Records), arranging, producing, and co-writing for their debut American Excess. He also discovered and developed GRAMMY@-winning rock band Halestorm, helping secure their Atlantic Records deal in 2006.


Ivory has been an active member of The Recording Academy for over 25 years, serving two terms as a National Trustee after previously leading the Philadelphia Chapter as its President.


Currently, Ivory is Director of the Sound Recording and Music Technology / Mass Media Studies and Production programs at Montgomery County Community College, where he oversees curriculum and teaches production in the college’s state-of-the-art, $2 million SSL Dolby Atmos mix room, which he helped design.
